Cassius M. C. Myers
Cassius M. C. Myers was born December 6, 1846 at Marion, Linn county, Iowa and died December 26, 1927 at Monett, Missouri, aged 81 years 11 months and 20 days.
When 6 years old he and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis A. and Mary Ann Smith moved to Winterset living here until the beginning of the Civil war in which he and four brothers took part. He enlisted and was a member of Co. C, Second Iowa Cavalry. In 1865 the family moved to Grundy county, Missouri.
He was married to Sarah Ann Hamilton September 1, 1869. To this union were born eight children, five of whom are still living, his wife and three children having preceded him in death.
The children present during his illness were James L. Myers, Kansas City; Joe H. Myers, Sac City; Mrs. H. B. Goodwin, Winterset. Two who were unable to go to Monett on account of illness were W. H. Myers, Trenton, Missouri; Clair L. Myers, of Minneapolis.
