Mrs. Hannah Hockett who at one time resided in Earlham, died Saturday at the home of her son at Corning. She was an aunt of Mrs. C. R. Afflack.

Clipping from unknownHannah Fairholm, daughter of Jeremiah H. and Gull Elma Fairholm, was born in Warren county, Ohio March 7 1843 and died Friday afternoon January 13 at the home of her son A.H. Wilson. She was at the time of her death 85 years, 10 months, and 6 days old. Her death followed an illness which covered several months and during the time she was tenderly cared for by the son and family and other relatives.
The deceased came to Iowa with her uncle in the fall of 1856, located in the eastern part of the state. On September 15, 1860 she was married to Seth Wilson. Their home was established in Madison county. To this union four children were born two of whom survive, Alvah H. Wilson and Charles A. Wilson both of Corning.
Mr. Wilson died September 6, 1892 while in Florida. On August 18, 1898 Mrs. Wilson was married to David Hockett who passed away June 2, 1903. For the past 18 years she had lived near Corning.
Besides the two sons and their families she leaves four sisters, Mrs. Phoebe Chambers of Des Moines; Mrs. Maggie Seward of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Mrs. Mary Evans of Audubon, Iowa; Mrs. Emma Francis, Earlham, Iowa; and one brother Wm. Fairholm, died about four years ago. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and many friends who mourn her departure.
This fine Christian woman was a member of the Friend’s church at Earlham, Iowa, for 45 years. She kept the faith burning the light of which was her comfort and strength during her illness.
The funeral was held at the Federated Church of Corning, January 15, 1928 at two-thirty o’clock and the interment was made at the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
