Page 2, Column 199-Year-Old Dies at Albany
John C Clearwater, a former horse trainer and farmer in Salem during the early 1900s, died Saturday at an Albany nursing home. He was 99.
Clearwater was born in Iowa and moved to Salem about 1906. He operated the Horse Exchange business on Ferry Street in Salem for many years.
He left Salem about 1930 and operated a small rooming house in Portland until he moved to Albany in 1956.
He was a member, of the First Methodist Church in Salem. His wife Ida O. Clearwater died in 1925 at Salem. Survivors include a son, Robert, Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Snarr, Corvallis, Mrs. Verna Sprecher, Santa Cruz, Calif., and Mrs. May Moyer, Portland.
Services are pending at Barrick mortuary here.

A horse trainer and farmer when he lived here, Mr. Clearwater left Salem about 1930 and operated a small rooming house in Portland until he moved to Albany in 1956. His wife, Ida, died in 1925.
Mr. Clearwater was a member of the First Methodist Church in Salem.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Snarr, Corvallis, Mrs. Verna Sprecher, Santa Cruz, Calif., and Mrs. May Moyer, Portland.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Barrick Funeral Home.

Funeral services for John C. Clearwater, 99, who died Saturday in an Albany hospital, will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Barrick chapel with Dr. S. Raynor Smith officiating. Interment will be in City View Cemetery.
