Verna Sprecher Dies At Age 89

Verna May Sprecher, 89, died yesterday in a local rest home.

A native of Iowa, she came to Santa Cruz in 1950 to live with her daughter, Mrs. Helen Brothers, 323 Caledonia Street.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Luccie Roberts of De Ridder, La.; two stepsons, Roger Sprecher of Oklahoma and Clarence Sprecher of Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Mayme Mayer of Portland, Ore., a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at White’s chapel, 138 Walnut Avenue, with the Rev. Melvin Nonhof of Orthodox Presbyterian Church officiating. Private interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Contributions may be made to the building fund of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, to which she belonged.
