Page 7, Column 5F. M. Archer died at his home in Glendon Sunday of pneumonia and complications. He owned the general store in that place. About ten or twelve years ago Mr. Archer lived in Stuart and conducted a photograph gallery. He had also formerly lived in Dexter.
The funeral was held at the church in Glendon Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. H. T. Clampitt. Interment was made in the Dexter cemetery and the services where were conducted by the officers of Stuart lodge, I.O.O.F., assisted by member of the Dexter and Stuart lodges. The pall bearers were also selected from Stuart lodge.
The following account of Mr. Archer’s life was furnished by the family.
Francis Marion Archer was born near Albia, Iowa, September 14, 1860, died Sunday, May 27, 1917, at three p.m. He joined the Christian church at the age of thirteen and has been a faithful worker for Christ. He was united in marriage at the age of twenty-two to Eltha A. Fosher at Winterset, Iowa in the year of 1882.
To this union were born four daughters, Bessie Clyde, who died at the age of seven years, Beryl, who died at the age of eighteen years; Nellie Johnson, who lives in Glendon, and Grace Archer, who lives at home with her mother, are left to mourn the loss of their dear one.
The deceased leaves five brothers and two sisters. He was one of the charter members of the I.O.O.F. of Patterson, Iowa, and was transferred to Stuart lodge, of which he is now a member. He was always of a cheerful disposition and won many friends. He was a kind and loving husband, and an indulgent father.
