Page 3, Column 4A service was held July 11 at the Chamberlain-Fisher Funeral Home in Adel for Mary Jane Gowin, who died July 8, 1980 at the Perry Lutheran Home. She was 89.
The daughter of Laura Young and Joseph Hiram Young, she was born September 24, 1891, on a farm near Pitzer, Iowa, in Madison County. She married Fred Elwood Gowin June 3, 1914, and had three sons—Kenneth of Adel, Dale of Seal Beach, California, and Ivan of Adel.
She lived most of her married life in the Adel area. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers. She is survived by her three sons, five granddaughters, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and two sisters.
Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Adel.
