Van Meter Rites For Nellie Pierce

Funeral services for Nellie Pierce, were held at the First United Methodist Church at Van Meter. Mrs. Pierce passed away at a Des Moines nursing home on January 29, following a long illness.

Rev. C. G. Sparks was in charge of the services. Organist was Mrs. Dennis Young. Honorary casket bearers included Tom Lauterbach, Charles Jungman, Dennis England, Frank Peeler, Dan Schabillion and Dillon Merical. Casket bearers were Jeffrey, Michael, Gregory and Stephen Bainter and Robert and Rex Rhodes.

Burial was at the Chapel Cemetery.

In Van Meter

Mrs. Nellie Pierce passed away on Wednesday, January 29 at a Des Moines nursing home after a long illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Van Meter, with interment at the Chapel Cemetery. [Union Chapel - Jefferson Township]

Her ten children were here to attend the service; they are Mrs. Dale (Vivian) Rhodes, Jim and Bruce Pierce of Van Meter, Herbert Pierce of Des Moines, Mrs. W. R. (Janice) McGee of Atlantic, Georgia; Roy Pierce of Norwalk, California; Mrs. Kermit (Wanda) Bainter, Mrs. Aurthur (Ruth) Grable, Harold and Alfred Pierce all of Rockford, Illinois.
