Charles J. Kirschbaum Sr., 80, of the 400 block of Southeast Pleasantview Drive died of a heart ailment Saturday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rising Sun Church of Christ, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Kirschbaum was born in Patterson and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He retired in 1981 as principal officer for Teamsters Local 147. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Central State Teamsters, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, American Legion, Southgate Masonic Lodge, Des Moines Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Izaak Walton League, American Trap Association and Iowa Trap Association.

Surviving are his wife, Eva; two sons, Carl of Crown Point, Ind., and Charles III of Carlisle; four daughters, Carolyn Kirschbaum, Charlene Hildreth and Bridgette Johnson, all of Des Moines, and Lory Kirschbaum of Carlisle; three brothers, Delbert and Edwin, both of Des Moines, and Larry of Branson, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Houseman of Branson and Eunice Faden of Sebring, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today and all day Tuesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or American Heart Association.
