Page 3, Column 4A funeral service for Marguerite Lucy Gutshall, 86, of Van Meter was held June 23, 1984 at the Van Meter United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gutshall died June 21 at the Madison County Care Center in Winterset.
Burial was in the Chapel Cemetery near Van Meter.
Mrs. Gutshall was born July 4, 1897 in Madison County, the daughter of David and Lucy Griffith. She spent her entire life in the Van Meter area.
She was married to Jacob Max Gutshall, who preceded her in death in January 1953, in 1914. They farmed near Van Meter until retirement.
She was a member of the Van Meter United Methodist Church for 75 years and served as a member of the church choir for 68 years. She was also a member of the Women’s Club, Matron’s Club and Home Study Club.
She is survived by three sons, M. Wayne, R. Carroll and J. Paul all of Van Meter; one daughter, Gretchen C. Cartwright of Boulder, Colo.; one brother; four sisters; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
