Death of James Kirby

James Kirby, 73 years old, Iowa pioneer, died July first at his home in Des Moines after a lingering illness.

Mr. Kirby was born at Carbondale, Pennsylvania, and went to Des Moines with his parents in 1856. Later he moved to Madison county where he became one of the leading stock raisers and farmers of Iowa. He retired in 1920 and moved to Des Moines.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two sons, J. C. Kirby, of Miami, Florida, and W. W. Kirby, of St. Joseph, Missouri; three daughters, Mrs. A. Kiddie, Mary Kirby and Florence Kirby, of Des Moines, and one sister, Margaret Kirby; of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held July 3 at 9 o’clock at St. Augustin’s church.
