Miriam Stonnon was born at Winterset, Iowa, June 6, 1858 and died at her home in Perry, Oct. 6, 1925 at the age of 67 years and four months. She grew to womanhood and spent all her early life in the town where she was born graduating from high school and teaching for a number of terms in the country schools.
She was married to John Huston June 30, 1883 coming soon after to Perry where she has since resided. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Hazel Ryan of Grainfield, Kansas, Harold died in infancy and Roland residing in Perry.
Eleven grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers and children with the husband are left to mourn the loss of this good woman.
Mrs. Huston visited with the Baptist church at Winterset when a very young girl and remained a faithful member until her death.
She was a member of the Knights and Ladies Society lodge of Perry.
Her fatal illness dated from about a year and a half ago and most of the time was a great sufferer all of which she bore with patience. All that kind friends and loved ones could do was done to care her from pain. She did not fear death knowing it to be the gateway of the life beyond.
Mrs. Huston was a loyal faithful wife, a loving devoted mother, and a true friend.
The funeral was held at the Baptist Church Thursday afternoon, October 8, conducted by her pastor Rev. Yearnd, and burial was in the Violet Hill cemetery.
Those from out of the city attending the funeral were Mrs. Lida Danforth, a sister from Winterset; Mrs. Lane, a sister of Mr. Huston from Boonville, Iowa; Mrs. Taylor Huston and son, brother and nephew of Mr. Huston from Valley Junction.
