Mary Ann Berringer was born in Madison county, New York, February 3rd, 1835, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred A. Rogers, in Winterset, May 10, 1926.
Early in life she moved with her parents to Battle Creek, Michigan, and was there united in marriage to Harmon Lockwood in 1860. Mrs. Lockwood has made her home with her daughter for the past 32 years and has enjoyed good health up to about four weeks before her death, when she began to fail.
She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter, Mrs. Fred Rogers, of Winterset; two grandchildren, Mrs. Pearl L. Butts, of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Myrl R. Johnson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also one great grandchild, Millard Frank Butts, several nieces and cousins living in Michigan.
She joined the Baptist church at the age of 18 and had ever since been a faithful member. She had lived a very useful and religious life, attaining the noble age of 91 years, 3 months and 7 days. She was loved by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, may 13, from the Rogers home. Interment was made at Rock City cemetery, Winterset.
