Page 6, Column 1Earl Mark, 55, a DeSoto resident for a number of years, was found dead at his residence Thursday, August 3. The funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the DeSoto Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. Root officiating. The Fisher Funeral Service of Van Meter had charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Leonard Root was soloist with Mrs. Max Riley accompanist on the piano.
The casket bearers were Harry Chestnutwood, Lee Palmer, Nelson Stump, Fred Prohaska, Carroll Rinard and Myrel Minnick. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
Earl Mark, the son of Charley and Leona Brown Mark, was born Aug. 4, 1906 on the old home farm near DeSoto near the site where the Sears school house used to be. After the death of his mother Earl and his father moved to a residence they purchased in DeSoto, which has been his home since. His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by an aunt by marriage, Mrs. Nora Mark of DeSoto, a cousin Maurice Mark of Winterset, also some other relatives on his mother’s side, and numerous friends.
