Page 5, Columns 7 & 8Harley Eugene Tompkins, son of Adelbert and Ida Belle Tompkins, was born in Guthrie County, Iowa on February 10, 1890, and passed away in Iowa City, Iowa on April 28, 1956, at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 18 days.
He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Pearl Allen December, 1914 in Adel, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, Noel E., wo died in infancy and Lonnie Eugene of Perry, Iowa.
Mr. Tompkins spent most of his life in Dallas County. For a number of years he was a dairyman, and in later years was employed at the Lumber yard in Adel. In youth he united with the church in Redfield, Iowa, and later transferred his membership to the Methodist Church in Adel of which church he was a member at the time of his going away.
For several years he has been a semi-invalid at his home. He is survived by his wife, Pearl, son Lonnie and wife of Perry, five grandchildren, a brother, Lonnie of Atlantic, Iowa, a sister, Mrs. Armitta McGee and husband of Grimes. He was preceded in death by both parents, three sisters. He will be remembered by many relatives and friends.
Services were Monday at 2 p.m. at Fishers Funeral Home in Adel with W. A. Samp officiating.
