Charles William Hornsby was born at Sweden, Monroe County, New York, Sept. 5, 1848, and died September 8, 1928. On Dec. 5, 1869 he married Samantha Mansfield. His life partner preceded him in death Jan. 1, 1911.

He is survived by three sons and one daughter; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The children are J. H. Hornsby, DeQueen, Ark.; Mrs. C. H. Barnett, Atlantic, Iowa; C. C. Hornsby Dallas Center and H. V. Hornsby, of Earlham.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Earlham Methodist church conducted by Rev. L. B. Shannon, of Wiota, a former DeSoto pastor, assisted by Rev. W. H. Beers, pastor of the Earlham Methodist church. Interment in the Earlham cemetery.
