Verne Hornsby of Des Moines, a former DeSoto resident a number of years, passed away Sunday, April 13, at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines following a heart attack two days previous, at the age of 73.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines after which graveside services were held at 2 p.m. at the Earlham cemetery.

He was born in Dallas County and moved to Des Moines four years ago from Dallas Center.

He was a member of the Christian Church and the Golden Age Club.

Surviving are two sons, Clyde and Harold Hornsby of Des Moines, three granddaughters, six grandsons and several nieces and nephews, also many friends.

Henry Hornsby Funeral Is Set

Services for Henry Verne Hornsby, 73, of 4229 Amherst st., will be at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the cemetery at Earlham.

Mr. Hornsby, a retired farmer, died of a heart attack Sunday at Iowa Methodist Hospital. He had been ill two days.

Born in Dallas County, Mr. Hornsby came to Des Moines four years ago from Dallas Center. He was a member of the Christian Church and the Golden Age Club.

He is survived by two sons, Clyde and Harold Hornsby of Des Moines; three granddaughters, six grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
