CARL J. ALERY

Services for Carl J. Alery, 61, of Centerville and formerly of Des Moines, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Alery died Sunday of cancer and a heart ailment at Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Born in Winterset, Mr. Alery lived in Des Moines 52 years before moving to Centerville five years ago. He was a retired truck driver for Coon Valley Sand and Gravel Co. and was a member of Baldwin-Patterson American Legion Post. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; a daughter, Colleen Borkholder of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a son, Steven C. of Milan, Mich.; two brothers Everett 0. Alery Jr. of Osceola and Everett 0. Alery of Waterville, Minn.; two sisters, Evelyn Riese of Des Moines and Doris Graham of Watsonville, Calif.; his mother, Clara B. Alery of Des Moines; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home until 10 a.m. Thursday.
