DubuqueMary Gertrude Bussanmas, also known as Sister James Michael, 84, of Dubuque died of complications of a stroke Friday at Marian Hall there. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Marian Hall Chapel in Dubuque, with burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery there.
Sister Bussanmas was born in Bevington and had lived in Des Moines until moving to Dubuque eight years ago. She was a music teacher at St. Joseph Academy in Des Moines, Hospe's Mr. Music and Miller's Music before retiring. She was a member of The Sisters of Charity, BVM.
She is survived by five sisters, Julia Songer, Frances Bussanmas, Janet Keenan and Clara Ann Guisinger, all of Des Moines, and Sister Cobita Bussanmas of Kansas City, Mo.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Marian Hall Chapel in Dubuque, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of Charity, BVM Retirement Fund. Behr's Funeral Home in Dubuque is handling arrangements.
