Rites Saturday For Ackelson

Services for Vernon E. Ackelson, 71, of 2633 Maple St., who died of emphysema Thursday at Veterans Hospital, will be at 3 p. m. Saturday at Hamilton's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Ackelson, a retired trucking firm dock worker, was ill seven years. Born at Winterset, he lived in Des Moines 40 years. He was a member of the Sunshine Church of the Open Bible and the Boline-Manfredi post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Sylvia; four sons, Willard E. of South Bend, Ind., Wayne D. of Overland Park, Kan., and John E. and Marvin E. of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Sample of Des Moines and Mrs. Gertrude Shaffer of South Bend; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Wilkinson, Mrs. Clarkie Cleghorn and Verdia Ackelson, all of Des Moines; four brothers, John, Leo and Edgar of Des Moines and George of West Virginia, and 16 grandchildren.
