Cecil Kirkland

Vallejo resident Cecil R. Kirkland, 80, died Monday in Indianola, Iowa, while attending a family reunion.

Born on March 24, 1913, in Macksburg, Iowa, Mr. Kirkland had lived in Vallejo for 51 years.

He worked at Mare Island during World War II and was a carpenter at Solano Community College, retiring in 1979.

He was a long-time member of Harvest Time Temple in Vallejo. Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois of Vallejo; two sons, Larry and Lonnie, both of Napa; a sister, Edna Kirkland of Iowa Falls, Iowa; a brother, Eugene of Huntsville, Ala.; four grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Gayleen Kirkland, and a grandson.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Skyview Funeral Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Dr., Vallejo. The Rev. Jim Haney of Harvest Time Temple will officiate. Burial will be at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo. Visitation at the funeral chapel will be today from 4 to 8 p.m.
