Death of Mrs. Luther Grosscup

Word was received Sunday of the death of Mrs. Luther Grosscup at Valley Junction. Mr. and Mrs. Grosscup were for years residents of Webster neighbors township and their many friends and neighbors. She had submitted several weeks ago to an operation which gave only temporary relief. Mr. Grosscup's sisters, Misses Janie and Alice went yesterday to attend the funeral.

Coordinator's notes: This obituary is transcribed as published. The second sentence has issues in that the first "neighbors" should be deleted and the second "neighbors" should probably be followed with something like "mourn her death."

The deceased's first name was taken from her gravestone, her middle name from the 1880 Federal Census and her maiden name from her 1887 Polk County Marriage record.
