Death Occurs at 97 Years

Mrs. Maud E. Carey of Winterset died Monday, March 13, at Madison Manor. She was 97 years of age.

Mrs. Carey had been a resident of Madison county the last 56 years. She was the former Maude Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson, and was born in Johnson county March 1, 1875.

She was married at Prescott on March 25, 1896, to George Carey. His death occurred Jan. 7, 1947.

Mrs. Carey was a member of the Methodist church at Prescott.

Surviving are two daughters, Ethel Carey of Winterset and Mrs. Orra Berry of Winterset. She also leaves two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a brother, George Wilson of Prescott.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was to be made in Evergreen cemetery at Prescott.
