Winterset Chapel – Winterset, IowaTally Sue Evans, 61, of Winterset, died Sunday, June 16, 2019, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 20, with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m., at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 21, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Gus Henrici officiating. Interment will take place in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines. Online condolences may be left at caldwellparrish.com.
Tally Sue was born on February 27, 1958, at Durango, Colorado to Larry and Beverly (Weidman) Breeding. She had spent most of her lifetime in Winterset, graduating from Winterset High School in 1976. Later that year, she married Don Alcorn and to this union they had three beautiful boys. She was married on November 22, 1996 at Las Vegas, NV, to Steven Dale Evans.
Tally Sue had been a long time alcohol and drug counselor in the area before doing clerical work for AAA and then onto Citigroup and then Metlife.
She was a person who loved her family very much. When it came to her sons, she was always looking out for them and was there to listen. When grandchildren came along, she loved spending time with them and attending their sporting events or whatever activities they were participating in. Tally Sue’s outside activities included fishing, eating fresh tomatoes out of the garden, Iowa Hawkeye Football, and watching Chicago Cubs games with her Dad.
Tally Sue loved having beautiful hanging baskets full of purple flowers. She was a very caring person who always put others before herself. One other love Tally Sue had was for her pet companion, Molly. Tally Sue had put up a courageous battle against cancer, having put off the inevitable for many years.
Tally Sue is survived by her father, Larry (Wilma) Breeding of Winterset; husband, Steve Evans of Winterset; sons, Jeff (Kobie) Alcorn of Winterset, Steve (Stephanie) Alcorn of Grimes, and Doug (Taylor Fritz) of Winterset; stepson, Tyler (Crystal) Evans of Colorado; sister, Terri (Tom) Collins of Winterset; grandchildren, Trinity, Justice, Gage, Ella, Chase, Maddox, Liam, Briella, and Ephrem; step grandchildren, Emmett, Etta, Justin, Spenser, Myles and Elijah; three nieces, Candi, Jamie and Megan; two great nieces, Alexandria and Presley; and step brothers, Larry (Deborah) Phillips and Craig Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly (Weidman) Breeding.
