Adel, IowaRobert Lyman Fogler 90, of Van Meter, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Sunday, June 16th at his home with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church in Adel with burial at Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter. Friends may call after 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 19th at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel, where family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Robert was born on a farm near Patterson, Iowa on April 22, 1929 to William C. and Irene Wycoff Fogler. He graduated from Patterson High School in 1947. He married the love of his life, Marjorie Golightly, in 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter. To this union, one daughter, Janet, was born. They made their home on the farm south of Van Meter, which he called the top of the world.
Robert was a hardworking farmer, raising cattle, hogs, chickens and also, crops. He loved the farm life, the animals, and always had a dog beside him. He loved his classic tractors, home, friends and family.
He served in the Korean conflict and belonged to the Winterset American Legion. He had many friends and family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjorie of 62 years; daughter, Janet (Gaylon) Dayton of Clive, and grandsons, Matthew & William Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Elsie Snell and infant sister, Olive Jane Fogler.
