Roger Keith Myers, 70, died Monday, May 29, 2017 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A Celebration of Keith’s life will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 2nd at Iles Westover Chapel where his family will receive friends after 9:00 AM.

Keith was born January 20, 1947 in Des Moines to Kenneth and Marjorie (Parrish) Myers. He attended Adel High School, where he excelled academically and participated in the Hawkeye Boys State Camp. He loved sports and received 15 letters, 5 of which were in baseball.

He was an Army veteran, serving in Berlin during the Viet Nam war.

Keith received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, a Masters at NW Missouri State, a Specialist Degree and PHD in education at Drake University. His teaching career began in the Melcher Dallas school system. He went on to preside as Superintendent of Schools at Adair-Casey, Carlisle and the Meskwaki Settlement School, coaching throughout the majority of those years.

Survivors include his wife, Beckie Myers; children: Laura (Daniel DiMeo) Myers, Eric Myers; grandchildren, Samuel and Eva; mother, Marjorie Nelson; brothers, Ron (Tammy) and Jack (Cindy); numerous nieces and nephews and close family members.

He was an avid golfer, loved hunting and fishing and was a huge sports fan. He leaves behind family and friends who loved him dearly.

Memorials will be shared with Gigi’s Playhouse in Des Moines and Ankeny First United Methodist Church to assist with youth camp fees.
