JoAnn Barker, 68, of Winterset, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset, with a visitation at the church one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation and online condolences can be left at ochiltree.com.

JoAnn Ellen Wiedman, the daughter of John and Mildred (Bindel) Wiedman, was born May 12, 1950, in Madison County, Iowa. She attended schools in the Winterset area and graduated from Winterset High in 1968. JoAnn was united in marriage with Richard Barker in 2003 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.

JoAnn worked in housekeeping for Winterset Care Center South and the Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was a devoted member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. JoAnn was an avid reader who also enjoyed tending to her flower garden. She was a talented cook who enjoyed spoiling her family with delicious meals. JoAnn loved her grandchildren and enjoyed supporting them at their various activities. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who cherished nothing more than spending time with the ones she loved.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Richard Barker of Winterset; two sons, Charles (Kelly) Boettger of Washington D.C.; Jim (Harmony) Haines, Jr. of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Keeyon Van Weelden; Mariah Clark; Cyana Van Weelden; Justin Porter; siblings, Helen Wiedman, John (Nancy) Wiedman, Judy Van Horn, Beverly Maxwell, and Kathy (Randy) Jones; sister-in-law, Shirley Wiedman; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Rose Rinkert, Dorothy Bear, and Edith Jacobs and a brother, Glen Wiedman.
