MORTUARY
Mrs. Thomas McCoy

Ruth Ann Wiggins was born in Hill, Grafton county, New Hampshire, Dec. 6, 1855 and departed from this life Dec. 14, 1924, aged 69 years and 8 days.

When but a small child she moved with her parents to Iowa, settling near Winterset, where she lived until her marriage on Feb. 23, 1874, to Thomas Harvey McCoy. They then lived in Van Meter and vicinity until the time of his death, April 26, 1921.

In her early life she faithfully attended the Methodist church but in later years, her health prevented this pleasure. Mrs. McCoy suffered a stroke of paralysis some time ago and has gradually failed over since, death coming to her at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Rinard, in Des Moines, Sunday evening, Dec. 14th.

She was a faithful wife and kind and loving mother. The vacant place she has left in the hearts and homes of her family and friends can never be filled until all are united in the eternal home. Since her husband’s death she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rinard in Des Moines.

She leaves to mourn her loss, five children: Charles N. McCoy of Carnegie, Okla.; Maud E. Rinard of Des Moines; Jessie Halterman of Valley Junction and John and Harvey McCoy, also of Des Moines; all of whom were with her at the time of her death. Besides these she leaves nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two half-sisters, two half-brothers, an uncle and a host of friends.

The body was brought to Van Meter, where the funeral was held at the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 16th, conducted by the Rev. E. H. Green. Burial was at the Van Meter cemetery.
