UrbandalePaul W. Simmons, 74, of 4005 83rd St., Urbandale, died of cancer Thursday at The Abbey, where he had lived one month. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Simmons was born in Peru, Ia., and was an employee of Sears warehouse. He had also worked as a janitor with Urbandale school systems and as a painter with AMF-Western International. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Beaverdale Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife, Veda; two sons, Steve of Tucson, Ariz., and Rod of Mason City; a sister Audrey Wilson of Marion; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Westover Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of his church.
