Mt.Vernon - Funeral services for Jerome Bruce Sellers, 85, will be Wednesday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in the Mt.Vernon cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Mr. Sellers died at Mt. Vernon March 7. He was born March 4, 1897 in Winterset, Iowa to Samuel Howard and Clara May Sellers. In 1910 he came to Mt.Vernon where he had since resided. In May 1930 he married Eva Dunham. She died in 1965. In 1968 he married Evelyn Patterson.
He cared for his father until his death in 1940 and for his mother-in-law, Mrs. Dunham, until her death a few years later. He was of tender disposition and loved his family and friends. During World War I he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Mt. Vernon, the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Mt.Vernon American Legion.
Survivors include his widow; three sisters, Mary Johnson, Madison; Leona Hartman, Hot Springs; and Lucile Svoboda, Clarendon Hills, IL; and several nieces.
