Arthur J. Dowler

CASPER—Services for Arthur J. Dowler, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, with the Revs. Dr. Harold Dowler, Dr. Bryant Badger and Paul Hallock officiating.

Either flowers or memorials to the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund would be equally appreciated.

Mr. Dowler died Jan. 6, 1988 at Wyoming Medical Center following a short illness. He was born May 7, 1903 at Madison county, Iowa, to Hamilton R. and Mary G. Dowler. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to Kansas, and then in 1909, he came to Chugwater. On Jan. 1. 1920, he moved to Casper where he was first employed in the freighting business.

In 1925, he married Fay Bennett who preceded him in death. In 1951, he married Mabelle Culverson, and she preceeded him in death in 1973.

Mr. Dowler worked for the American Oil Co. for 43 years and following his retirement, he worked in real estate for the Coy Realty in Casper.

In 1974, he married Esther Currence in Oakland, Calif., and the couple made their home in Casper where they have lived since.

Mr. Dowler was very active in helping build the First Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Esther of Casper; two daughters, Ethel Dunn of Salem, Ore. and Marjorie Dowler of San Jose, Calif.; three sons, Harold Dowler of Ardmore, Okla., Charles Dowler of Racine, Wisc., and John Bennett of Casper; one brother, Floyd Dowler of Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Ina Sims of Sun City, Ariz., 20 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bustard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
