SELDON BANKER IS DEAD AT 56

Seldon (Slip) Banker, 56, of West Des Moines, winner of the 1950 West Des Moines community service award, died Tuesday of a heart ailment at Veterans hospital. Death followed an extended illness.

Mr. Banker was a leader in the erection of the new American Legion building in West Des Moines, constructed through the drum corps’ fund-raising activities. A disabled veteran of World War I, he was commander of Valley American Legion post in 1940.

Because of ill health, he had been unable to work for many years.

He was a Valley High school football star.

Surviving Mr. Banker are his wife, Bessie; and a sister, Mrs. Phillip Jurecka, Hollywood, Cal.
