FUNERAL OF C. L. PIKE HELD HERE AT M.E. CHURCH

Wife and Two Daughters Survive Former Local Man

Funeral services for C. L. Pike of Mt. Pleasant were held here at the Methodist church Friday afternoon with the Rev. Paul Calhoun officiating. Mr. Pike, a former Winfield business man, died Wednesday morning at Mt. Pleasant.

The Masonic Lodge had charge of the services at the cemetery. Pallbearers were William Feldman, Carl Carden, James Smiley, Fred Crawford, George Schmidt and Byron Young. Surviving him are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Traser of Morrison, Ill., and Mrs. Grace Young of Winfield, a brother, Merton Pike of Des Moines and three grandchildren.

Born at Winterset, Ia., February 7, 1882, Mr. Pike was united in marriage to Susie Smith on April 7, 1903. To this union were born four children, Emmett who died in infancy; Edith Hazlitt, deceased; Ruth and Grace.

The Pike family moved to Winfield from Booneville in 1920, and Mr. Pike was manager of the lumber yard here until 1929 when he and Mrs. Pike moved to Des Moines. While here Mr. Pike was very active in church and lodge circles, holding several offices in the latter. He had lived in Mt. Pleasant for about two years prior to his death.
