Charles Pike passed away at his home northeast of Rolfe Friday, Mar. 13, 1931, after an illness of considerable duration.

Charles Pike was born at Redfield, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1855, the son of Martha and Moses Pike. He grew up in that locality, and at the age of fourteen, moved to Winterset with his parents. In early life he united with the Christian church.

At the age of twenty-two he was joined in wedlock to Miss Lett DeLong of Winterset, and to this union four children were born: Merton and Leslie, now residing in Des Moines, and Cecil and Pearl, deceased. After the death of his wife at Winterset, he moved to Des Moines and remained there until 1906, when he came to Pocahontas county.

He was united in marriage on Dec. 25, 1915, to Mrs. Addie Gibbons, who survives him, and has since been a resident of this community. In addition to those previously mentioned he leaves to mourn his death one brother and five step-children.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Mar. 14, at the McIntire funeral home in Rolfe, Rev. W. A. Wilkinson officiating. The body was shipped to Des Moines and funeral services were held at Lilly’s funeral home there Monday. Interment was made in a cemetery at Des Moines.
