Page 6, Columns 3 & 4Clara Elizabeth Forret, daughter of Conrad and Barbara Gettlebaur Eichner, was born in Madison County on June 14, 1895. She was called to her eternal home on Sunday, January 8, at the age of 71 years, 6 months, and 25 days.
She was baptized in the Lutheran Church as an infant. In her youth she was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter, and was a member of this church at the time of her death.
On April 25, 1917, she was united in marriage to Edward Forret at Grimes, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two sons and one daughter.
For the first seven years of her life her home was in Madison County. Then she moved with her parents to Clarke County and lived there about eight years after which they moved back to Madison County.
After their marriage she and her husband lived on a farm north of Booneville about one year after which they moved to a farm near Orilla. About two years later they moved to a farm near West Des Moines where they lived until 1958 when they moved to Waukee, her home until the time of her death.
Mrs. Forret suffered a heart attack and stroke last Saturday morning and was taken to a Des Moines hospital where she died shortly after midnight.
She was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Mrs. Sevina Stifel, Mrs. Katie Pritchard, Mrs. Anna Forret, and Mrs. Laura Rehbein; and by 1 brother, Fred.
She is survived by her husband, a patient in the Golden Age Retirement Home in Des Moines; 2 brothers, Harry Eichner of Winterset and John Eichner of Indianola; 3 children, Carl and Arthur of West Des Moines and Mrs. Marquerite Jordan of Waukee; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild; and other relatives and friends.
