Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 15 at 10:30 at the Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center for Hobart A. Carty, 73, who died Thursday evening at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

The Rev. Richard Kiefer officiated. Organist was Mrs. Esther Royer. Casket bearers were John McDonald, Alfred Whitacre, Gene Shultze, Arthur Bast, Jerald Stockman and Tom Scott.

Interment was in the Brethren Cemetery at Dallas Center.

Mr. Carty was born in Madison County in 1897. He lived in DeSoto until his marriage to Irene Jones in 1923 and then spent the rest of his life time in Dallas Center.

Survivors include his widow, Irene, one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruby) Kuehl of Grimes, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.
