Huglin Rites Set Thursday

Alburtus Huglin, 84, Spearfish, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Deadwood shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. He had been ill about one week.

Mr. Huglin, a resident of Spearfish since 1935, was born Oct. 19, 1871 in Iowa, and attended school there and in Nebraska. He was married to Charity Wilson, who survives, May 7, 1899, in Bloomfield, Neb.

The couple moved to South Dakota in 1909 and homesteaded in Meade County until they moved to Spearfish. Mr. Huglin was a member of the Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry Shrader, White River, Mrs. Ray Cathey, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Dwight Goodwin, Spearfish. Fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, and three sisters, as well as a son and a daughter.

Funeral services have been set for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church of Spearfish with the Rev. Richard Pittenger officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View cemetery, Rapid City.
