Page 1, Column 7The funeral of Michael Keith who passed away Friday morning, occurred at the Slininger Chapel Sunday afternoon, with the service by Reverend Peterson. Interment in the Jefferson cemetery with the casket bearers as follows: Wm. Dowd, Carl Stogadill, John Stougard, Alfred Julliam and Ralph Annunzio. The following obituary was read at the service.
At the break of dawn, Friday morning, June 5 at his home in Jefferson, Iowa, the spirit of our beloved brother Michael Keith went to the God who gave it. And as we paused to pay our last respects and esteem to Grandpa, as he was known by all, we can rejoice to know he was ready and patiently waiting to go.
Michael, son of James and Margaret Keith, was born in Iowa and grew to manhood in this state.
January 13, 1881 he was united in marriage to Priscilla Moore, their married life of 57 years was as God ordained it, very devoted to one another, and always a hearty welcome and greeting extended to all who came to know them.
In 1882 he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and has lived a devoted Christian life ever since. In his last days he often spoke of his desire to go to his Savior, and he waited patiently for his call, which came in his ripe old age of 81 years, 10 months and 24 days.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, one adopted son, Thomas Keith of Jefferson, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two brothers, George of California, James of Atlantic and two sisters, Elizabeth and Etta of Guthrie, Oklahoma. His father and mother preceded him many years ago. Many relatives and friends are left to mourn him, for to know him was to love him.
