Pioneer Iowa Resident Dies

Isaac Welker Came to State in 1875.

Isaac Welker, 78, of 3826 Fifteenth st., pioneer Iowan, died Friday morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. H. E. Philpott, in Omaha, Neb.

Mr. Welker came to Iowa in 1875 from Mount Vernon, Ohio, and had lived here since. He was married in 1879 to Miss Ella Mathews of Des Moines, who survives. For a number of years he was connected with the Acme Brick and Tile Co. here, but retired two years ago.

Besides his daughter and widow, he is survived by two sons, W. O. Welker of Des Moines and Allen Welker of Los Angeles, and nine grandchildren.

Burial will be in Des Moines.

Transcriber's note: The deceased first settled in Madison County, Iowa, was married there in 1877 and moved to Des Moines sometime after 1885 per census records.
