Mark Walker, age 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 20th, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Mark was born in Winterset, Iowa on August 18th, 1956 the youngest of five children to Andrew and Aurilla (Rudd) Walker .

He remained there and graduated from Winterset High School in 1974. He was married to Kathleen Walker in December 1976, they later divorced in October 1992.

Mark married Glenna (Jackson) Schmidt on November 10th, 2000.

He spent 36 years as a calibrator with United Technologies in the Aerospace Industry. He reluctantly retired early due to complications of Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy.

Mark loved the outdoors and was an avid mushroom hunter and a very accomplished gardener which were passions he shared with his wife Glenna. Mark was a very hard worker who valued respect and hard work from others. He was a great husband, friend and father to his step children.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna Walker; his sisters, Sheryl (Walker) and Richard Henley, Marlene (Walker) and Mick Waddingham, and Brenda (Walker) and Dennis Little; brother, Larry and Michelle Walker, his stepchildren, Ian Cline of Winterset, Isaak Schmidt of West Des Moines, and Megan Schmidt of Urbandale and his grandchildren, Aarisin Hiszczynskyj and Jasmine Cline; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Mark's Life will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018, 2:00p.m. - 6:00 p.m., at the Raccoon River Park, Coneflower A Shelter

In lieu of flowers or gifts, Mark would be honored to have donations made in his name to Muscular Dystrophy Association at mda.com.
