VELMA G. HALL Des Moines

Velma Grace Hall, 94, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Velma was born in Madison County, Iowa to Lester and Clarissa May Janes. Velma had many jobs as well as homemaker before she finally retired at the age of 90 from Wells Fargo in Des Moines. She was a member of Union Park Baptist Church for many years. Velma was an avid bowler in many leagues and thrived on keeping busy. She loved to travel and go camping with her family and many friends.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Dale L. Hall; four children, V. Jean, William, Sharon, and Wayne; sister, Joan Cox of Winterset; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Velma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dale, Jr.; three brothers, Tom, William and Howard; and her sister, Rosy Clear.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given the Salvation Army.

Velma will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all that knew her.

Velma Hall, Des Moines

Velma Hall, 94, Patterson native, died Monday, April 30, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to the Union Park Baptist Church.

Velma Grace Janes was born in Madison County on July 24, 1923, to Lester and Clarissa May Janes. Velma always had a job as well as being a homemaker. Velma was a full partner with Dale in the Hall Oil Company and Eastgate Conoco over many decades. Velma’s final job, the one she retired from at the age of 90, was at Wells Fargo in Des Moines. Church was very important to Velma and she had been a member of Union Park Baptist Church in Des Moines since Sept. 30, 1951.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dale Jr.; three brothers, Tom, William and Howard; and her sister, Rosy Clear.

She is survived by her husband, Dale L. Hall, who resides at the Marshalltown veteran’s home; four children, V. Jean, William (Nanette), Sharon (Pat), and Wayne; sister, Joan Cox of Winterset; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
