Marlene Waddingham, 68, of Macksburg died Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Crest Haven Care Center in Creston.

A visitation with family present will be held from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, May 12, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Hall in Winterset. A private family burial will be held at Moon Cemetery near Macksburg. Marlene would be honored to have memorials made in her name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (www.mda.com) to research for Myotonic Muscle Dystrophy Type 1.

Marlene Kay Walker, daughter of Andrew “Andy” and Aurilla (Rudd) Walker, was born February 16, 1950, at Still College Hospital in Des Moines. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1968 and was united in marriage to Michael “Mick” Waddingham on December 3, 1968, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Marlene worked at Fairbanks College in Alaska after her marriage since Mick was stationed in Alaska while serving in the United States Army. She worked at the Winterset Senior Center and McGowen, Hurst, Clark and Smith in Winterset. She later worked for Anchored Walls as their bookkeeper for 12 years.

Marlene had a green thumb and enjoyed tending her garden. She was a talented cook who also collected cookbooks. She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading in her free time and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and pet dog, Lacy. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Mick Waddingham of Macksburg; three sons, Scott (Penny) Waddingham of Grimes, Jeff (Jaime) Waddingham of Norfolk, NE, and Brad (Jenna) Waddingham of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren, Tyler Jeffrey, Katherine Elizabeth, Madeline Grace, Landry Marie, Alexandra Mae, Lilly Lenna, and one on the way; siblings, Sheryl (Richard) Henley of East Peru; Brenda (Dennis) Little of Des Moines, and Larry (Michelle) Walker of Apopka, FL; sister-in-law, Glenna Walker; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mark Walker; and a nephew, Andrew Michael Walker.
