Edith Neisemier, 89, of Osceola; formerly of Lorimor and Thayer areas, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at her daughter's home near Diagonal. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be at the Lorimor Cemetery, south of Lorimor. Open visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials are to be established.
Edith Ann (Neff) Neisemier, daughter of Clarence E. Neff and Ethel Mae (DeLong) Neff, was born on July 10, 1928 in Osceola, Iowa. She graduated from Clarke Community School in Osceola in 1947.
On May 20, 1947, Edith married Clarence Neisemier in Winterset, Iowa. She and Clarence farmed in the Lorimor and Thayer areas during their fifty plus years of marriage. They retired from the farm and moved to an apartment in Osceola in 2001.
Edith was proud to be a farmwife. She raised a big garden, chickens, and helped in various ways with the farm work. She cooked for the family and hired men throughout the years, and always made sure to take a snack to the field mid afternoon. She was best known for her "made from scratch" Angel Food Cakes. The coffee pot was always on for visitors with many conversations taking place around the kitchen table.
Edith is survived by her children, Gary (Elaine) Neisemier of Junction, Texas; and Cheryl (John) Whittington of Diagonal, Iowa; Five grandchildren: Jay (Darla) Neisemier of Bryan, Texas; Katherine (Brenden) Brassard of College Station, Texas, John Paul (Amy) Whittington, Clint (Audrey) Whittington, of Diagonal, Iowa; Chris (Don) Nippert of Villisca, Iowa; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorotha Foland of Osceola and Aleta Nelson of Omaha, Neb.; a brother-in-law Les Neisemier of Omaha, Neb.; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Edith Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her father & mother-in-law, husband Clarence; sisters, Mildred (Leland) George, Oma (Harold) Crabb, brother, Lowell (Irene) Neff; brothers-in-law, Fred (Gertrude) Neisemier, Leo (Pauline) Neisemier; and a grandson, Jared Whittington.
Edith Ann was proud of her family and the many friends shared throughout her lifetime.
