Funeral services for Herman Vaudt, 74, held Wednesday

Funeral services for Herman G. Vaudt of Jefferson were held Wednesday, June 8, at the Trinity Lutheran church in Jefferson with the Rev. Arnold Boehnke in charge. Burial was in the Jefferson cemetery.

Casket bearers were Vern Marten, Lloyd Bailer, Hans Glese, Ray St. Clair, Charles Powell and Henry Gollwitzer. Singers were Mrs. Arnold Boehnke and Mrs. Frank Miller, accompanied by Ruth Trost.

Herman G. Vaudt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Vaudt, was born in Van Meter, Nov. 22, 1885, and died at his home at the age of 74 years, six months and 13 days.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Van Meter.

On Jan. 20, 1907, Mr. Vaudt was united in marriage with Charlotte Wolf at Waterloo, Ill., by the late Rev. Franz Pieper. To this union two children were born: Mrs. Sheldon (Luella) Thayer of Storm Lake and Herbert of Manning.

After residing in Waterloo, Ill., for one year, they moved to Van Meter for five years, then moved to a farm near Whittemore for 22 years. They then lived on a farm near Paton until 1942 when they moved to Farnhamville until 1954 when they came to Jefferson.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, William, August and Albert, and one sister, Christina.

Survivors include his wife, his son and daughter, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, other relatives.
