Walter Vaudt, 68, Fenton, Dies; Rites Set

FENTON—Walter Louis Vaudt, 68, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital.

He was born Feb. 18, 1902, at Van Meter to August and Clara Kneuter Vaudt. He received his education at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Whittemore.

He moved to the Whittemore area in 1912 with his parents, farming south of Whittemore for many years. On Sept. 19, 1922, he was married to Lorean Wehrspan. She died Jan. 30, 1965.

Vaudt retired to Fenton in 1968. For 35 years, he has been a seed corn representative in the Fenton area. He was married to Delphine Hantleman at Fenton, Sept. 14, 1968.

He was active in church work and held offices in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fenton, and served as an elder, vice-president, and as an adult Bible school teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Delphine; five daughters, Mrs. John (Dawn) Struecker of Fenton, Mrs. Harold (Phyllis) Behnke of West Des Moines, Mrs. Elmer (Jeannette) Maahs of Algona, Mrs. Don (Sandra) Morrow of Martinsdale, and Mrs. Warren (Ann) Wood of Livermore; three sons, Calvin and Eugene Vaudt of Fenton and Harlan of Emmetsburg; two brothers, August Vaudt of Whittemore and the Rev. Erwin Vaudt of Mahnoman, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Behnke of Whittemore, Mrs. Louis (Bertha) Grienert of Whittemore, and Mrs. E. J. (Clara) Butler and Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Rhoda, both of Elmore, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fenton. Family services will be held at 10:15 a.m. The Rev. Rex Spicer will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Whittemore.

Friends may call between 10 a.m. today and 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Fenton.
