Josephine Anna Foy Sitkiewicz

Josephine Anna Foy Sitkiewicz, daughter of John and Catherine (Palmer) Foy was born on December 5, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois and passed from this life on Thursday March 15, 2018 at Care Center North in Winterset, Iowa at 96 years of age.

Josephine married Norbert John Sitkiewicz on September 7, 1946 at St. Bartholomew Church in Chicago, Illinois. They resided in Berwyn and Westchester, Illinois until 1982. In 1982 they moved to Peru, Iowa where they spent the remainder of their retirement together.

Josephine had been a waitress and a Western Union teletype operator for many years. Josephine and Norbert, together, read electric meters for REC of Greenfield and delivered donuts for The Bakery in Winterset. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset, The Alter and Rosery Society, and The Independent Order of Foresters, having served as one of the first female Chief Rangers.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memory; daughter Jonor Jones of Winterset, sister Gertrude of Illinois, grandsons, Skipper (Chasidy) Jones of Winterset, Leighton (Leslie) Jones of Winterset, great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Savanneh, Neveh, Liliana, and one on the way. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
