Ila Clair Paulsen, eldest daughter of Clark and Una Hunter was born in Madison County, Iowa December 23, 1907.

She attended public school in Penn Township and high school at Earlham. Ila was baptized and joined the Penn Center Methodist Church. Later she transferred her membership to the Dexter and Guthrie Center United Methodist churches.

February 29, 1928, she was married to Fred E. Lenocker, and they had two daughters, Eleanor Marie Stiles and Helen Louise Watson, both of Dexter. Ila was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lenocker, her parents and an infant sister.

April 21, 1967, she married Dean Paulsen of Guthrie Center where they made their home. She is survived by her husband Dean, two daughters, Eleanor and Helen, one step daughter, Janet Stock of Lake View, Ia., three grandsons, Tim and Ted Stiles, David Watson, a granddaughter, Traci Marie Stiles of Dexter; three step-grandchildren, Jodi, Julie and Jimmy Stock of Lake View; two son-in-laws, Jerry Stiles and Wesley Watson, and one step-son-in-law, Jim Stock; also one sister, Ava and other relatives and friends.

Ila was an active member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, The Garden Club, and the Guthrie Center Woman’s Club.

Funeral services were at the Penn Center United Methodist Church near Earlham, June 13, 1975. Interment was in the Dexter Cemetery. Rev. Edward A. Schaller and Rev. Robert G. Farr officiated.
