Russell Lloyd Hildebrand, youngest son of William H. and Matilda (Reed) Hildebrand, was born July 17, 1894 in Madison County, Iowa. He departed this life at Adair, Iowa, Sept. 30, 1964, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 13 days. As a young man he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and united with the Christian Church.

He enlisted in the National Guard when Pres. Wilson issued the call for volunteer armies of our nation in June 1916; being one of the last volunteer armies of our nation. He served on the Mexican border until Feb. 1917.

On July 3, 1916, he was united in marriage with Delia M. Randel. To this union were born 3 sons and 2 daughters.

He was preceded in death by his 3 sons, Russell and Alvin dying in infancy and Max passing away in 1947. His parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters also preceded him in death.

Most of his life has been spent in Iowa with some brief exceptions in other states. He has been an invalid for the past two years, more than a year of which was spent in the Adair Nursing home where he passed away. All that Drs., nurses, science and loving hands could do, were to no avail. He was a kind and loving husband and father, always thinking of others rather than himself, and feeling keenly his sense of duty regarding his occupation and its importance.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Delia Hildebrand, 2 daughters, Marie (Mrs. Ivan Mills) of Linden, Iowa, and Leota (Mrs. Duart Walters) of Lincoln, Nebr., and their husband. Also one daughter-in-law Mrs. Fred (Mary Hildebrand) Filiatrault and her husband, of Bakersfield, Calif., other relatives, including 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Randel, who makes her home with Mrs. Hildebrand in Casey; 2 sisters, Mrs. Orville (Marcella) Johnson, of Benson, Minn., and Mrs. Tina McAllister of Greybull, Wyo., as well as other numerous relatives and friends.
