Page 8, Column 3Mary, the wife of James Thomas, died in Osceola, August 20th, of brain fever, after an illness of eleven days. She was born in Madison county twenty-eight years ago. Her maiden name was Burdick.
July 2, 1885, she was married to the husband who is yet living, and is left with three small children to feel the loss of a very kind and good wife and mother. She filled the difficult position of stepmother so well that no word of criticism could be spoken and won to herself friends in all who knew her. She was a member of the M.E. church.
Her funeral was held on Tuesday at her home, Rev. Sparks officiating. She was buried in the Osceola cemetery.
