John T. Porter Services Held
Rites Are Conducted at I.O.O.F. Chapel

Funeral services for John Thomas Porter, 83, who died Sunday morning at the I.O.O.F. home following an illness, were held at the I.O.O.F. chapel Monday morning, with the Rev. F. W. Wendland, pastor of Grace Evangelical church, officiating.

Mr. Porter was born Dec. 17, 1867, at Winterset, Iowa, the son of Henry and Hannah Lamb Porter. He was married to Lulu Blanche Simpson. Until his retirement in 1942, he was schools custodian at Council Bluffs.

He was admitted to the I.O.O.F. homes here Aug. 8, 1945. He was a member of the Grand River Lodge No. 406, Macksburg, Iowa, which he joined Aug. 9, 1890.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marie Simmons, Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Vionille Kuykendall, Denver, Colo.

Interment was at the I.O.O.F. Homes Memorial cemetery. The McAuley and Son funeral home was in charge.
