John Fagan, Macksburg
November 12, 1936 - January 15, 2018

John Fagan, 81, of Macksburg, died Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, at Ochiltree Funeral Service with the funeral service to follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Madison County. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.

John Stanley Fagan, the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Mulligan) Fagan, was born November 12, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska. He started working construction at a young age and became a talented carpenter. John was united in marriage with Nancy Alexander on July 29, 1967, in Papillion, Nebraska. He worked as a carpenter all his working years, focusing on framing and new home construction.

John and Nancy enjoyed going to dances, rodeos, stock car races and car shows. They loved to ride horses and participated in the Saddle Club in Omaha. They also enjoyed to travel. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sharing his produce with neighbors and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. John was a strong and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Nancy Fagan of Macksburg; six children, Mitchel (Toni) Fagan of North Platte, NE, Gail (Mark) Yerbic of Grand Junction, CO, Shon Fagan of Macksburg, Dawn Fagan of Callahan, FL, Cherie (Leon) Morse of Winterset, Bryan (Kristen) Fagan of Fremont, NE; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five siblings, Lorraine Frazell of Michigan, Keith Fagan of Norfolk, NE, Millie Fagan of Las Vegas, NV, Karen Horton of Louisville, KY, Joan Heck of Omaha, NE, extended family and many friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Greg Fagan, and three siblings, Rick Fagan, Larry Fagan and Mary Fagan.
